About a week ago, I decided to finally ditch Windows 11 entirely. Windows just feels too bloated and slow. The design is inconsistent, and every system app feels like some vibe-coded web app bullshit.

I mean, just try it yourself. Try opening any default program like the text editor for example, and count how many seconds it takes to load. For me, it was three seconds. Back on Windows 7, or hell, even XP, this was instant.

Anyway, I’ve used Ubuntu and Fedora in the past but wanted to try something new, that’s why I decided to try out NixOS. The system of configuring everything in config files and then having the system built from those is just awesome. I’m able to use the same config on my desktop PC and my laptop to have the exact same system on both devices without any extra work.

Additionally, I love being able to customize my system however I want. I haven’t run into any major problems with Linux so far. The only thing that slightly annoys me is not being able to play War Thunder in VR because the devs don’t update their game on Linux and actively block Proton.

Oh yeah, you can play almost every Windows game using Proton. I think it’s kind of mind-blowing how something like that is even possible. I’ll continue using Linux, and I’ll definitely write a new post in the future about how it’s going. See ya!
